Over the past five years, Disney World has been on a streak of not only opening up new lands and attractions but also increasing fees and eliminating perks that were previously free or included. Disney kicked off this fee increase when it began charging its resort hotel guests for self-parking in 2018. The free Magical Express bus to and from the airport for Disney resort guests died out at the end of 2020. Also, the free FastPass entered the Disney history books when it appeared Disney Genie + in late 2020, however, today Disney surprised guests by eliminating a fee, not a single fee. While this is by no means a return to “the way things used to be,” it is a positive start with some additional touches for the future. MOUSE COUNSELORS.Parking is again FREE for Disney Resort Hotels Guests who spend the night at Disney World hotels like the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will not have to pay an overnight self-parking fee. Summer Vibes / The Points Game Starting January 10, Disney World Hotel guests will no longer have to pay a fee for overnight self-parking. Disney World Hotel guests will continue to receive free parking at the four Disney parks, a policy that was already in place prior to this change. Previously, guests had to pay a nightly fee that varied based on the resort’s designation. Self-parking costs $15 per vehicle per night at value resorts, $20 at moderate resorts and $25 at deluxe resorts, and the list of reasons to stay at a Disney property is growing once again. In addition to being able to park themselves for free, those who choose to stay at a Disney Resort hotel can get into the parks 30 minutes early, make individual purchases from Lightning Lane at 7 a.m. (instead of the parks opening) and stay out late. Select Nights (for luxury resort guests only) Attraction photos are now FREE With the Disney Genie + you can take some great photos while riding at Disney World. TARAH CHIEFFI / THE POINTS GUY There are more than a dozen attractions in the park—including Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Slinky Dog Dash, and Frozen Ever After—that make for a fun photo op for you on your ride. Unfortunately, the only way to access the photos while riding is to either purchase the photos individually or purchase a Memory Maker for unlimited downloads of photos while on vacation. Disney World vacation. For example, Memory Maker carries a flat fee of $169 when purchased in advance, or $199 if purchased during or after your vacation. However, this includes photos during the rides and those taken around the parks by Disney PhotoPass photographers. . Soon, guests who purchase a Disney Genie+ service to skip the standby lines during their ride at Disney World will also have access to free digital downloads of all on-ride photos taken for each day they purchase a Genie+. We can take home a free digital download of our screaming faces on the Tron Lightcycle/Run When it opens April 4th Annual Disney World Pass holders can soon enter the parks without making a reservation Disney also announced that in the next few months, Walt Disney World Annual Pass holders will be able to Passing entry to any of the four Disney theme parks after 2 PM without a theme park reservation (except Saturdays and Sundays at The Magic Kingdom). A specific date should be announced soon. The only thing that got an upgrade during the Disney100 celebration. Not only is Disney Resort making changes at Disney World that will save money and improve your visit, while the ability to visit more than one park a day on a Park Hopper ticket is unfortunately not back to what it was before the pandemic, they’ve got one Just a step closer west, starting February 4, Disneyland visitors with eligible tickets will be allowed to take the bus starting at 11 a.m. instead of 1 p.m. At Disneyland, a PhotoPass will now be included for all visitors as part of this park’s Disney100 celebration. This means that the next shot you scream at Space Mountain won’t cost you anything extra to enjoy. There’s no set date for the end of the Disney100 celebration and this promotion, but our best guess is that at least it runs through 2023. Previously, PhotoPass came with the purchase of Genie+ at Disneyland. Disney also announced that annual Disneyland tickets, known as Magic Keys will go on sale at different times of the year as inventory allows. The park is also increasing the number of days available annually with the lowest ticket price of $104. , as well as some other items in today’s announcements. For example, a two-hour park transition at Disneyland is at least a hopeful sign of a more normal future, however, you generally still need a reservation to enter the parks, and you can’t change parks until 2pm at Disney World. . Not to mention, the price of the Genie+ has only been going up in recent weeks. Dropping $15-$25 per night in parking fees at resort hotels can hardly make up for all the extra fees and price increases in recent years. Or, is this the moment when the tide begins to turn, at least a little bit, away from the extra fees and complications of a Disney theme park vacation? Your next Disney vacation:
